I am sitting in a restaurant at the entrance to Washington Sq. in Sukhumvit Soi 22 trying to make sense of a Thai newspaper written only in Thai Language. I’ve been taking lessons in Thai Language for a while and I am beginning to make sense of Thai words in the newspaper, nevertheless it has been a struggle. When I say make sense, I imply I can pronounce the words but I do not know what most of them mean. Even when I do know a phrase, the tone could also be different from the word that I know, so I might still not know what the word means!
The [two] bar/cafes at the entrance to Washington Square from the Soi 22 side are called Sidewalk Cafe and Denny’s Corner. I choose Sidewalk Cafe as a result of it does not have bar ladies, and it’s simpler to relax. The espresso is drinkable only with numerous sugar added. However the location of these [two] places is ideal for watching the world go by in each Soi 22 and Washington Square. Neither place has air conditioning which makes them extremely popular to sit in, even within the winter months. Denny’s Nook has more shade from the solar than the Sidewalk Cafe. Across Soi 22 is the Regency Park Bangkok Hotel which has [two] big stone dragons sitting on all sides of the front entrance. This is quite an expensive hotel, but not so costly if you are used to paying for inns internationally and in First World countries. They also do not mind when you wander across the street to make use of their bathrooms, which is great as a result of they are clean. Washington Sq. is an space of land and buildings that lie between Soi 22 and Sukhumvit Road. It is a very massive space which appears to be in need of re-development. The buildings have a mix of apartments, bars, a well known Muay Thai gymnasium, massage, and a few eating places come bars. The Muay Thai gymnasium could be very expensive, but I hear that the coaching is good.
There are [two] very giant buildings within the centre of Washington Sq. and a hoop-road that runs round them with buildings on the surface of the ring-highway as well. As you walk away from Soi 22 throughout the Square, enterprise exercise declines, and there are many empty outlets and residences in the buildings. On the far edge of the ring-road from Soi 22 there is a bar called Texas Saloon which is away on its own. As you retain walking towards Sukhumvit Highway the enterprise exercise improves again and this is the place the large Sportsman’s Bar and The Dubliner are located.
There are a lot of bars and some massage places in Washington Square, but it is not actually regarded as one of the crimson gentle districts of Bangkok. It’s extra unassuming than that. The traditional pink mild district closest to Sukhumvit Soi 22 is Soi Cowboy which is on the opposite aspect of Sukhumvit Road. It is adjoining to Soi Asoke, and Soi 23. Soi Cowboy is definitely a sub-soi, or soi that runs off one other soi. Washington Square is far more relaxed than Soi Cowboy. There aren’t banks of aggressive, but pleasant Thai Girls sitting in-front of bars, urging clients to part with their money. It is not like Soi Cowboy most likely as a result of the bars in Washington Square are so unfold out around a much bigger area.
